How engagements work
Priced to the work, not to a package.
We don't sell a fixed price list, because no two back offices are the same. Here are the shapes an engagement takes and what actually drives the cost, so nothing on the first quote is a surprise.
Three shapes, and you can mix them
There is no price list, and here is why.
No two back offices are the same, so a tier would be padded to cover the worst case or quoted low and renegotiated later. Instead, here are the three shapes an engagement takes. Most clients start with one and add another later.

01
Dedicated staff
When you need capacity
A team member, or a few, working only on your operation and managed by us. Priced per role, as an ongoing monthly engagement.
Best when you need reliable capacity and a consistent person who learns your business rather than a queue you submit tickets to.

02
Managed scope
When you want an outcome
A defined area of the back office we own end to end, for example bookkeeping, payables and receivables, or operations. Priced on the scope and the volume.
Best when you want a result handled rather than hours to manage. One person is accountable for the output, not five for tasks.

03
Project or automation build
When there's one thing to fix
A single build, whether that's an automation, a dashboard, or a documented process, with optional maintenance after it ships. Priced per project.
Best when there's a specific problem to solve or a system to put in place, and you want a defined piece of work with an end date.

What actually drives the cost
Four things, and none of them is which logo is on your door. We would rather tell you which one is driving your quote than hand you a tier and let you guess.
- Scope and volume
- How much work there is, and how often it happens.
- Coverage
- The hours, turnaround, and response times you actually need.
- Complexity
- How many systems are involved, and how tangled they are.
- Accountability
- How much you want us to own, versus support you on.
Engagements usually start focused and scale as trust builds. You don't have to hand over everything on day one, and we'll tell you when adding more isn't worth it yet.
What a first month looks like
Four weeks, and the fourth one ends in a decision rather than an automatic expansion.
-
Week 1
We watch
We sit with the work as it actually happens rather than as it was described. Access is requested per system, read only wherever that's enough.
-
Week 2
We map
Where the hours go, which steps have no owner, and which of them would be cheaper removed than staffed. You get that back in writing.
-
Week 3
We take one thing
The piece costing you the most, run by us against the standard you agreed, while everything else carries on untouched.
-
Week 4
We report, you decide
What ran, what didn't, what it cost, and what we would take next. Expanding is your call and there's no penalty for stopping here.
What owners ask about cost
Why is there no price list?
Because the same job is a week in one business and a month in another, and a number on a page would be wrong in both. Publishing a tier would mean either padding it to cover the worst case or quoting low and renegotiating later, and both are worse than a short call.
Can we start small?
Yes, and most do. Engagements usually start focused on the one thing costing you the most and scale as trust builds. You don't have to hand over everything on day one, and we'll tell you when adding more isn't worth it yet.
How does this compare with hiring someone?
You're comparing against the loaded cost of a hire rather than a salary: recruiting, management time, cover when they're out, and the risk that the first one is wrong. What we run consistently lands below that, and where it wouldn't, the honest answer is that you should hire, which we'll say.
What happens if the scope turns out to be wrong?
We re-quote rather than quietly absorb it or quietly bill it. The first month is deliberately shaped to find that out early, which is why it ends with a report and a decision rather than an automatic expansion.
