Fractional controller and CFO support

We give you senior financial judgment part time: someone who reviews the numbers, plans the cash, and helps you decide, without a full time hire.

The difference

The person advising you is reading numbers our own team reconciled, rather than interpreting a file someone emailed over. Nothing is lost in the handoff because there's no handoff.

How we handle your data

  • Your systems stay yours.

The work happens in your own accounts, on your own subscriptions, under your ownership. Nothing leaves the systems you have given us access to.

  • Access is requested, never assumed.

Read only wherever the work allows it, asked for per system rather than granted in bulk, and named per person. Credentials are never shared, and your records never sit on personal devices.

  • Preparing stays separate from approving.

A second person reviews before anything is filed or closed. On payables we prepare the run and you're the one who releases it.

Who it’s for

Businesses that have outgrown a bookkeeper and an annual conversation with a CPA, but are nowhere near ready to pay for a full time controller or CFO. It usually shows up as decisions getting made on instinct, because the analysis would take too long to be useful.

How we help

  1. 01 We review the close before it reaches you, so the numbers you decide on have had a senior pair of eyes.
  2. 02 We build and maintain a rolling cash flow forecast, so you can see further out than the current balance.
  3. 03 We model the decisions actually in front of you: a hire, a price change, a piece of equipment, a second location.
  4. 04 We put financial controls in place, so the business isn't one person away from a problem.
  5. 05 We prepare you for the conversations that need numbers: lenders, investors, bonding agents, buyers.

What you get

  • Senior review of your financials every period.
  • A cash flow forecast you can plan against.
  • Analysis behind the decisions that carry real money.
  • Financial controls appropriate to your size.
  • Someone to think it through with before you commit.

What owners ask about fractional controller and CFO support

What is the difference between a controller and a CFO?

A controller makes sure the numbers are right and the controls hold. A CFO uses those numbers to plan ahead. Smaller businesses usually need more of the first and growing ones more of the second, so we scale the mix rather than making you pick a job title.

How much time do we actually get?

It depends on what you need, and it's agreed up front. The usual shape is a set monthly rhythm around your close, plus availability for the decisions that come up in between.

Do we still need our CPA?

Yes. Your CPA files. This is the financial thinking that happens during the year, which an annual filing relationship was never designed to cover.

Is this worth it at our size?

The honest test is whether you're making six figure decisions on numbers you aren't confident in. If you are, the analysis costs less than one bad call. If you aren't there yet, we'll say so and point you at financial reporting instead.

Do we have to use you for bookkeeping as well?

It works best that way, because then the advice is built on books we know are right. If your bookkeeping is solid and staying where it is, we can work on top of it, and we'll tell you honestly what we find when we look.
